Who are TopK Events?
TopK Events is an event coordinating company that aims to bring the best of entertainment people cannot resist.
Top-K Events is a brainchild of Teku Ledwaba and Thipana Mongalo, which later joined by Kgaogelo Matheta known as 5KayGee.
One would say, sons of the soil of Mashashane.
TopK Events was officially formed in 2014, October 25.
How Did it Start?
"How it started, you'll be blown now looking at how it has turned out to be today.
Thipana and I bought couches coincidentally trying for a side hustle, we later realized we were both interested in the same business and decided to merge and grow together till date".
Fast forward, today TopK events hosts some of the best and biggest events and have afforded Mashashane community to witness some of the biggest artists and DJs perform right on our soil and also hosting a boat cruise at Hartebeesport dam and I must say its beautiful to see Mashashane people cruising in a boat and enjoying the luxurious life.
When Was Top K's 1st Event?
"Our 1st event was in 2014. My younger son's baby shower in centurion.
After the baby, we then came up with the idea of hosting our 1st Mashashane Christmas Chillas the following year at Mohlonong Stadium annually until we saw Mashfun Park as a better venue that would fit our style and target market".
What Has Top K Achieved So Far?
"I wouldn't really say we achieved anything worthwhile. Until we achieve the Greatness we want, we still going to keep on digging for our honey".
But one of the biggest achievements TopK is proud of is their consistent growth and being able to successfully entertain their fans every year.
Top K Events' Gatherings
"After our relocation from Mohlonong Stadium to Mashfun, We gave our people beautiful shows;
- In 2017 we hosted Dr Malinga.
- In 2018 we had King Monada.
- In 2019 we had Makhadzi and The Godfathers of Deephouse.
- In 2020 we were set to make history in the Mashashane entertainment scene. Unfortunately due to strict lockdown regulations that came with the Covid-19 pandemic our big lineup of celebrities was affected.
- We also throw annual boat cruise parties and it's always a great vibe.
How Did The Pandemic Affect Top K?
It's a problem for everyone in the entertainment industry.
We cannot plan our upcoming events as normal and somehow we end up losing money with this limited capacity.
What to Expect from TopK Events in the Future?
We are a bunch of individuals who keeps trying their luck. In this industry, nothing is really guaranteed. From our side, we will keep on trying our luck and appreciating the support. Hopefully, the residents will continue supporting us until we get this thing right.
