Person dies at the EFF 10th anniversary celebration

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has announced that the party plans to remunerate the funeral costs of one of its supporters who fell to his death at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, confirmed that one EFF supporter said to have died after falling from level five to level two of the stadium at the party’s 10th birthday celebration rally. The deceased was dancing when the incident occurred.

The EFF has since addressed the issue in a statement regarding the tragic passing of the man.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and pray that his soul rests in eternal peace. The leadership of the EFF will visit the family of the deceased and take care of all the funeral arrangements in honour of his life, as someone who formed part of the historic celebration of our movement,” the party said.

100 000 EFF supporters reportedly flocked to the FNB Stadium in celebration of the party’s 10 years of existence, and to listen to EFF leader Julius Malema’s speech on Saturday.
