That’s according to witness and Khumalo’s neighbour Khaya Ngcatshe, who testified as the second state witness at the murder trial of Meyiwa in Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Advocate Zandile Mshololo asked Ngcatshe if there was anyone in the house by the time the neighbours walked in moments after hearing a firearm going off.
Ngcatshe’s response was that Meyiwa was found alone lying on the floor and not being attended to. He said he did not see Kelly Khumalo at the time, and that the person in the house whom he only saw was Gladness, the mother of Kelly and Zandile Khumalo.
Ngcatshe was also asked by Advocate Mshololo about the height of the intruder since Khumalo’s sister Zandile, told the court that a precast wall had prevented neighbours from getting a closer look at the house.
He said that one of the intruders might have been between the height of 1.8 and 9 metres tall.
“I disagree. From where I would be standing, as much as the precast wall would be higher, I could still see the kitchen window of the Khumalos,” Ngcatshe added.
Ngcatshe was further asked if there was anyone he knew who had called an ambulance immediately after Meyiwa was shot.
The trial is set to continue on Thursday.
