Convicted rapists Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger were placed on parole, 28 years after being found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape and attempted murder of Alison Botha of Noordehoek
The victim was stabbed 30 times with a knife in her stomach and her throat was sliced open. Both du Toit and Kruger left Botha for dead, but she managed to jot down the names of the culprits before crawling her way to the road to look for help.
She was rushed to the hospital after being found lying wounded on the side of the road. The two men were found guilty by the Port Elizabeth High Court, and were both sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and attempted murder.
In a 2015 interview on M-Net’s Carte Blanche, Botha said that her worst fears would only be if her attackers were to be released on parole, and come back looking for revenge.
She told the TV show that it was her sheer willpower that helped her survive the attack and staying alive.
“When they slit my throat, they left only one muscle intact,” Botha said on the TV show .
Botha was not available for comment regarding the news of du Toit and Kruger being put on parole.
