Those who knows TheGreat, describes him as a very noble, consistent, down-to-earth and a very focused young man who's always ready to learn. "If you know me, you then know there's a lot I haven't tried in life". Says Andile. "I've tried street dancing, took up with DJing lessons, sang in the school choir trying to find myself but because of the acting bug that kept me woke from a tender age, as young as I was 4-years, the rest all seemed like a waste of time. The only thing that kept me going was growing up in an environment that was well built and had beautiful creatures, sadly with no easy access to the Art centres but I never let that get under my skin.
Mamabolo's prowess in the industry has paved up his way so well. He has worked alongside a list of veterans and in numerous Projects that allowed him to grow as a person and a film-lover such as A play with Lumiter Production, National Arts Festival Grahamstown with Get Attitude, one member of Most Fierce Productions called Maratha Helele. Played a supporting cast in one of Mzanzi's favourite SABC 1 soapie Skeem Saam in 2014, directed a lot of Limpopo Music Videos, a series called Cyber Crime and *_award winning_* movie based on Gender Based Violence, written by TheGreat himself, Behind Closed droors 2.
He also took part in Integrity Millionaires., He was a casting director and cameo in the music video of Senior Oat hit song ,"All in you". that was well-received by South Africans and within weeks, the song was sitting on over a million views. He's now working on a web series which is on episode 10 - Masakhaneng.
Andile's breakthrough was when His mentor alerted him about an opportunity that came through for him and it restored hope in him. Someone of his physique was needed to portray a certain character and he says that deep down, he knew this was the break he has been waiting for. "Those are some of the moments I'll always live to cherish and be greatful for". Said Andile.
When Covid-19 was wreaking the world over, TheGreat was one of many Production personels who struggled to secure posts but as a tertiary student, he says that taught him the need to secure his degree to fall back on should his 1st love fail him.
Andile's journey hasn't been an easy one. Hence the name- 'TheGreat' for surviving all the storms he has came across trying to lift and nurture his dream to never disappoint him and for been the best at what He does. He unfolds that He had once auditioned for a character in the Gauteng TV Production company that called him later in the afternoons for the next day in the morning. He says he slept at multiple filling stations trying to fulfill his dream but never made it on time.
The directing master tells Strictly Mashashane that despite of all the challenges He came across, He sees himself growing in the Industry, rendering good services and creating the best rated content, inspiring a lot of young generations who wants to take on his footsteps
"You must achieve. Do whatever it takes but do not quit".
