It is said that there is a dark past behind every successful business and for Dipalesa Flowas, the story is no different as the motivation behind launching the company came from a hospitalized Mahlatse.
Having the courage to plan on launching a business whilst you are in a hospital requires a lot of positive attitudes and a desire to win no matter what. That is what Mahlatse had to overcome in 2017 before she launched Dipalesa Flowas.
Having observed her use of social media, it became clear that she is on social media to not only sell but build two brands which are Mahlatse “The Black Florist” Mashao and Dipalesa Flowas. She is one of the few people who understand the fundamentals of building a brand online as opposed to being a hardcore seller that everybody tries to avoid.
This expertise for brand building can be traced as far back as 2011 when she was known as Mashashane’s artistic photographer who shared visual stories on her Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.
In September 2020, Mahlatse was included in the annual Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans. The list consists of 200 individuals Mail & Guardian considers to be the most influential 200 young South Africans of the year. Some of the notable individuals to be included in the lists include Bryan Habana, Trevor Noah, and Julius Malema.
Dipalesa Flowas is an online Floral and Gifting Boutique based in Gauteng. They have partnered with UberEats for customer convenience and greater reach. This means people can now order from Dipalesa Flowas through the Uber app.
All these moves are owed to the fact that a girl from Ga-Mashashane did not receive flowers whilst she was in the hospital. Mahlatse’s story tells us that it is possible to turn that negative into a positive. With a positive attitude accompanied by a great work ethic, everything is possible.
