Mashashane Police Officers Gives the Community a Helping Hand

Mashashane SAPS officers does not only help combat crime but they also do charity work for the community of Mashashane. They are currently on the tip of tongues of the community after making generous donations and left the community amazed. These servants of government, SAPS Mashashane station does way more than what is expected of them.

Charity begins at home but should never end there.

In May 2022, Mashashane SAPS officers and Polokwane Municipality (Rural and safety) have gathered and tasked themselves to intervene and gave a helping hand to the less privileged and needy. What they did is gather information and found out the number of less privileged learners in schools and bought them school uniform.

The CEO of Rodney Galane Foundation tells Strictly Mashashane that the initiative was a huge success through additional intervention of teachers of Mashashane respective schools, the private stakeholders of Mashashane, the owner of Mpilana, Johnny Ledwaba who also happens to be in the SAPS field, other 2 member from Rural and Safety, others those were generous enough to partake in this initiative.

The idea reformed mid April when some concerned parents and members of the community approached the station to ask about ways that can be considered to get help to solve the matter at hand as winter season approached and many children in need of warm school valuables. The whole Mashashane SAPS team refused to bask but acted bigger and bolder by stretching their hands, without having to refer the community to any organisations or companies that may be responsible for such matters and bought the uniforms from their own pockets.

Learners received items such as pair of school shoes, tracksuits, pair of socks, school bags and shirts.

"I am honoured to have been part of this beautiful initiative that allows me to touch the lives of other people". Says Rodney. "I am not rich but I have a very rich heart. As someone who cannot even start to imagine having to go to school bearfooted, Rodney says all he asks for, is that God grants them more power and wisdom to do something even much bigger for the kids all around Mashashane that are in need of the warmth of their giving hand before the end of this academic year.

The aim is to ensure that no weather conditions or disasters enables the learners to go to school. The team says that eventually, they'll be covering both primary and secondary schools.
