Her modelling career took off while in high school when she was only 16 years old, in grade 11. “Modelling has always been my passion. Although I believe that it is not only beauty that makes you a good model, but how you appear in front of your audience, says a lot about the kind of model you present yourself to be. Another nice perk of being a model, is to understand the beauty of your own body, and embracing the colour of your skin, and last but certainly not the least, just being yourself all the time” the model explained.
In her own spare time, Malebo enjoys going out on shopping trips, going out with her friends for lunch dates and night dates, cleaning the house, and keeping her knowledge intact by reading plenty of books. She also enjoys doing yoga to keep a healthy mind, and to stay in good shape. The 20 year old is currently studying for a diploma in International Tourism at MSC Business College. She comes from a loving family, and adds that the unwavering support her parents have given her in both her studies and modelling, is nothing short of an unconditional love that she is forever grateful for.
Malebo’s biggest accomplishment in the modelling industry, earned her a bursary worth R10 400 to study Computer Software Skills. All that came with her being the finalist of Miss Teenager South Africa 2016/17 representing Limpopo province. Her motto in life, as she declares, is that she lives by the words of one who dares to win, and a winner who dares to take risks. She is also a big fan of Winnie Harlow’s work, and looks up to her. “Winnie never lets her skin condition define who she is, and most importantly, she has taught me to be proud of my skin colour as not to harden any differences that make people who they are. Skin is just skin. We shouldn’t judge people by how they appear to be whether condition or race, we must embrace what makes others different too” she said.
The modelling world is not all glitz and glamour, beauty alone gets easily overlooked only if one’s intelligence and personality together wave their magic and leave one good impression lying around. Malebo also adds “ By not taking everything personal, you should also have a clear understanding that the person giving you constructive feedback, does not intend to make you feel bad about yourself. Instead you should take it as an opportunity to become a better model, and always keep an open mind irrespective of any outcome. Hence my advice to young girls and young women all over the world, is that I strongly believe that each and every single person, was brought into this world for a certain purpose. We should never leave the world the way we found it. We should always strive to make a difference. Women are not one dimension, we come in all different shapes and sizes, and we are all equally beautiful. We should embrace our own beauty loudly and boldly.”
5 years to come, the aspiring Miss South Africa hopes to take over the world, and become Miss Universe as well. Her ultimate goal is to show a black child living in the rural areas, that no dream is too big for any place, you can be anything you set yourself up beyond your wildest dreams.
