His music career started when he joined Mapateng's ClapnTap Choir group also known as Hot Gospel Choir until he released his first solo album in 2003 titled "Ha lena Tumelo", which was recorded by Andy Ramatsoma at Landertainment Records in Polokwane CBDs. Lion was the composer of all the songs and his own Producer.
He then joined an Acapella group from Zebediela called Limpopo Brothers under the leadership of Solly Matseba until 2006, that's when he went for greener Pastures and got signed by ZEN Music Production from Northwest (Mahikeng) and released one album titled "Sehloyaneng" that sold very well until the end of 2009 when he relocated to Gauteng Province after he was signed by Premium Records from 2009 till 2015 and released 2 albums whilst in it, "Oalaya" and "Thalitha kumi".
The first album has been "Oalaya", was worked on with the likes of Sammy, Nelson Moloi as the Producer and engineer, David Rantji and Jereth Lehlokoa. This album was recorded at Coolspot (Mixmasters). How the album sold, uplifted my spirit in music.
"I started being in various shows and featured by legends, likes of Makgarebe a Bochabela where I was featured on her 2 songs of which one of them was composed by myself, "E kaba o kae". I again was featured by Andile Ka-Majola on "Jwale kea bona". Lion performed on stage with the likes of the late Oleseng, Winnie Mashaba, Solly Moholo, the late Sfiso Ncwane, Rebecca Malope, and many more.
He parted ways with Premium Records in 2015 and started his own Record label where he released an album titled "Menemene tekele" in 2016. The album did well and still does. In 2017 he recorded an album titled "Kurhula" it was recorded by Faxa Dube at Dube studio.
The album Kurhula still continues touching many souls. Lion started an Acapela group, Black Rock in Mokopane that released an only album titled "Golgotha" the album is doing well since its release in 2019. Unfortunately, he and The Black Rock parted ways. He then started another Acapella group, The Cornerstone Gospel Choir In Ga-Mashashane, and released a single, Dibe tsa Lefase.
Gwangwa has indeed come a long way with his music. In the journey, he has also worked with veteran likes of Moloele, Ronnie Sathekge, Faxa Dube, Vusi Nkosi, David Rantjie, and more.
Lion is a restless man. He is also a businessman. The proud founder of Black Face Enterprise and Projects was established in 2020 in Limpopo GaMashashane. Black Face Enterprise and Projects deals with Cleaning chemicals, Music, and campaigns that are against Gender-Based Violence and Bullying at schools.
"I was inspired by the greater Oleseng Shuping with his gravel voice and message he sent through his music to the people. I started singing as young as 18-years old.
Lion says that throughout his journey, he learned to keep on trying, not to give up for there is no manna from heaven.
As a businessman, he wants to grow in a business that will help him grow as a person, manage and grow other artists in South of Africa.
