Mungomeni who recently left his post as a talent scout and assistant coach of Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda FC, said that the academy aims to give kids in the surrounding area which is Limpopo, a chance to showcase their talents and be eligible to turn pro courtesy of the opportunities provided by the academy.

“We want the academy to cater to all our kids in our area which is obviously Limpopo. Then it comes back to Vhembe where I come from. So I think the whole idea is to be able to groom kids from an early age. To know the basics of football and how football is played. I have done research for years checking out why we don’t have enough kids in our professional ranks or why our kids can’t make it far,” Mungomeni said.
The academy will be hosting its inaugural trials on Saturday, 29 July 2023 at the Rabali Sports Ground, Nzhelele in Limpopo. The trials will feature age divisions ranging from 12 to 19. All participants are advised to bring in an ID document as well as a training kit.
