Tensions however began to rise yesterday when Zandile Khumalo-Gumede stood by her word that Meyiwa was killed by the intruders.
Khumalo-Gumede who was going through a cross-examination in the Pretoria High Court, had a coming together with Nxumalo. Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng had to intervene and call order to both parties to respect the proceedings of the court.
The defence counsel accused Khumalo-Gumede of giving three statements to the police in contradicting fashion relating to the shooting incident. Khumalo-Gumede deposed the statements between the years of 2014 and 2018.
Advocate Zandile Mshololo further grilled Khumalo-Gumede and made a chilling discretion that one of the people in the house might have taken the gun from the alleged intruder and accidentally shot Meyiwa.
“That is what you are saying. I don’t know anything about that. I would not come all the way here to lie and waste the court’s time. All I know is that there were intruders who came that night,” Khumalo-Gumede said while under oath.
Meyiwa was allegedly gunned down by two intruders, one with a gun and the other carrying a knife when they forced to gain entry to Ntombi Khumalo’s (the mother of Khumalo-Gumede) house in Vosloorus in October 2014.
