Tennis great Serena Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian celebrate the birth of their second child

Tennis legend Serena Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian are officially parents to their second child, a baby girl named Adira, born on August 22 2023. The couple welcomed their first child Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., back in September 2017.

Williams (41) announced news that she was pregnant at the 2023 Met Gala, where she publicly revealed her baby bump. She would later on confirm news of her pregnancy on Instagram sharing an exciting post captioned, “the 3 of us [going] to the Met Gala,” referring to her and Ohanian adding a third member to the equation.

The six-time US Open champion, shared a moving article last year speaking about retiring from tennis, and that she was embarking on a journey of yet expanding her family.

“I have never like the word retirement. It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me. I have been thinking about of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something important to a community of people. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution,” wrote Williams.

She added, “I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me. A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm. Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family.”
